Walden Pond teems with a rich environmental and cultural history, though the daily tourists flocking to the pond’s edge often overlook the unique characteristics that compose the site.  To encourage observation — the act of viewing from a new or isolated perspective — Wander & Ponder steers visitors to discover new perspectives through height, depth, obstruction, and grass-level eye-sight.  Along the way, the observers pass through contemplation spaces in which to stop and reflect.  Only after traveling through all perspective rooms can the visitor continue on the journey to the pond itself.  Selective window placement allows for natural light to consistently direct one’s journey, despite the temporal nature of a New England environment.
Beyond the technical information, this site map of Walden Pond gives insight into its rich history and it popular tourist hotspots .
